Professional Conferences (3 total) and Field Visits (2 per week)

During the conferences, professionals are invited to speak to seminar participants at the CPI campus. Initial discussions focus on the Costa Rican social service system in order to provide a more ample understanding of the Latin American system’s structure and workings; also addressed are the similarities and differences between the North American and Latin American systems. As the seminar progresses speakers discuss the social problems specific to a developing nation, which include: domestic violence, abandonment, teenage pregnancy, street children, drug abuse and the consequences of extreme poverty. At the conclusion of the seminar speakers transition to methodology, techniques and interventions utilized in Costa Rica as well as analyses of specific case studies and interview techniques.
