Family Arrangements
CPI offers a family friendly learning environment for parents traveling to Costa Rica with their children. In our Standard Spanish Program adult family members are placed in classes amongst other adults at a similar level and the children with other children of the same level.
This possibility perfectly combines Spanish immersion with a family vacation. The end result is a memorable linguistic and cultural experience!
A number of CPI's Costa Rican host families have enough space to accommodate families of up to 6 people so the entire family can be together. CPI also offers the option to stay in Private Apartments with 1 or 2 rooms totally furnished.
At CPI you are able to find excursions of interest for the whole family, for example: butterfly farms, sailing trip, frog pond, cruise to Tortuga Island , and lots of other fun options for everyone to enjoy!
Kids Program
For children 12 and under, an age appropriate course corresponds with the particular learning needs of young people. Class time is divided into modules with emphasis on basic communication skills, vocabulary, and the introduction of grammatical concepts, coupled with art, linguistic games and hands on learning.
For children 4-6 years old, CPI has developed a special program covering elemental vocabulary and interesting topics appropriate for their age.
If the parents decide not to sign up their children for classes, babysitting services during class time hours can also be arranged for an extra cost.
The schedule is as follows:
08:00 - 8:50 a.m Class time - 10 minutes break
09:00 - 10:00 Class time - 20 minutes break with snack included
10:20 - 12:00 Class time
12:00 Class ends
For young children the schedule may be more flexible.

Teen Program
For teenagers 13-17 years old CPI has developed a special program, the young students may travel with their parents or tutors, or they may travel alone. Undergraduate language credit are available for teens 16 years old. Click here to read more about the Teen Program.
My daughters and I have traveled many times to Costa Rica to study at CPI, beginning when the girls were 9 and 11 years old. We found the teachers to be patient, the curriculum strong, and the environment safe. Because of their work, my daughters have advanced in their own Spanish classes in the States and always earn top grades.
We especially enjoyed living with our home-stay family who have become life-long friends. I believe studying other cultures prepares my children to become leaders of their generation in a world that will continue to diversify.
