Junio, 21 al 25: Cultura aborigen

En la actualidad, en Costa Rica sobreviven ocho grupos indígenas; algunos de ellos han perdido su lengua, otros luchan por conservarla y preservar así su propia identidad; y a pesar de la aculturación que han sufrido, la mayoría de ellos mantiene algunas de sus tradiciones, especialmente en la alfarería, el tallado en madera, la fabricación de textiles, sus danzas tradicionales y su alimentación.

En este mes, se propicia el conocimiento de una gran cultura, que fue subvalorada por mucho tiempo, pero que es la base de lo que el costarricense es en este momento, y cuya influencia podemos observar si miramos a fondo y detalladamente nuestro arte o nuestras costumbres alimenticias.

June 21st– 25th: Indigenous cultures of Costa Rica

There are 8 indigenous tribes that still exist in Costa Rica today, some of these have lost their native language while others fight to conserve and preserve it, as it is their own identity. And despite having suffered from having to adjust their culture, the majority of them have maintained many of their traditions especially the pottery, wood-work, textiles, traditional dances and the food.

In this month, students will increase their knowledge about a great culture, one that was under valued for a long time, but that is the base of who the Costa Rican is at this very moment, and whose influence we can see if we look in detail at our art or at our nutritional customs.
