Why is CPI the best choice in Costa Rica?

As you search for the best program for you, allow us to share our over 20 years of experience in teaching Spanish as a second language by suggesting that you consider each of the points below during the selection process.

  • Flexibility:  CPI offers students the flexibility to customize programs to meet specific needs. Students can combine the 5.5 hour program & 4 hour program between 2 or 3 of our select campus sites and may also alternate accommodation options by living with a host family in one location and choosing the Student Residency at another location.   Students can arrange a combination of morning group classes complemented by afternoon private lessons, facilitating the study of materials directed to individual needs.

  • Personalized attention:  Students find a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere both in and outside class; in-class the average group is only 2-3 students (4 maximum) permitting individualized attention through increased student-teacher interaction and allowing students to quickly reach linguistic goals.

  • Students travelling alone to Costa Rica:  Our program is the perfect option for those travelling alone and students feel comfortable under the protective umbrella of CPI, giving them confidence to explore the local surroundings and participate in activities organized by the school. Lifelong friendships are established as students meet in class, on campus during the break, or while participating in the many tours and scheduled events.

  • Beautiful, custom built schools and campuses:  Each remarkable CPI facility has been custom designed and built to serve as a Spanish immersion school.   Students appreciate the professional academic campus setting infused with comfortable spaces where students gather to enjoy new friendships, practice Spanish together, or relax amidst our lovely gardens, fountains, sporting areas, and open air dining facilities.  Each school has a library and small computer lab, as well as group meeting rooms, offices and game tables, such as ping pong and fusbol.  Conveniently located near restaurants, markets, bus stops and taxi centers, students safely and easily navigate throughout the local community

  • Three Campuses: Divide your studies among three fully staffed, completely unique locations:  the city life of Heredia, the cloud forest of Monteverde, and the tropical beaches of Flamingo. This allows students to experience more of Costa Rica, and save time & money by not having to adjust to a new program with each location change.

  • Several Lodging Options:

    1. Homestay: CPI carefully selects host families who demonstrate a sincere interest in meeting and speaking Spanish with our students.  Our host families welcome students into their home as a member of the family and encourage the students to participate in family activities.  By placing one student per family, unless otherwise requested, this option provides an amazing opportunity to enhance cultural awareness while having a great time learning Spanish.

    1. Student Residences: CPI also offers private or shared rooms and apartments at each of our modern, custom built Student Residencies.  Here students prepare their own meals or dine in local restaurants.  Food is also available for delivery to the Residencies which also have laundry facilities.

  • Academic Coordinator: Each campus has an Academic Coordinator to ensure the highest quality of instruction, supervised learning, and a smooth transition between campuses.  All of our teachers are native speakers and experienced in teaching Spanish as a second language.

  • Support Services:

    1. Before your arrival to Costa Rica all reservation details are processed by the staff of the CPI Admissions Department

    2. Monday morning first day orientation to Costa Rica

    3. Student Travel Coordinators: knowledgeable staff available to assist in advising on travel arrangements

    4. Bilingual office staff assist at all levels

    5. Wireless internet service and free international phone calls

    6. Library: free tutoring, high speed internet service and free cultural activities.

    7. Volunteer work: available at a children’s refuge in Heredia, at the Santa Elena Reserve in Monteverde, and the primary school in Flamingo; other options volunteer opportunities also available.

    8. Free airport pick-up and drop off for students living with home stay or at the Student Residency; an emergency assistance number 24/7.

  • Extensive Activities: Each campus organizes free weekly cooking and dance classes, as well as many other afternoon and weekend excursions throughout the country.

  • Academic Credits and Affiliations:

    • Universities:

      • CPI has agreements with New Mexico State University (NMSU), Brookhaven College, and the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) to assign transfer academic credits for those who travel without a professor.

      • Additionally, CPI is selected by diverse universities in the United States as their on-site study abroad provider of choice, awarding Spanish credits when students travel in a group with a professor, examples include: UDayton, Georgia Southern University, University of North Alabama, Arkansas State University, and more; find a complete list on our website.

    • Professional organizations: CPI is recognized worldwide as a serious academic institution that specializes in the teaching of Spanish as a second language: CPI is part of the prestigious network of the Central Association of Cervantes Institution in Spain (centrosasociados.cervantes.es) as well as a Cervantes DELE testing center.

  • Pricing: The CPI program is a fantastic value, offering support services and the highest quality language program at a competitive price.

  • Customer Satisfaction: CPI strives to ensure a superior level of customer satisfaction; this is proven by the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive from our students, many of whom return to study with us year after year.

CPI is so much more than merely a Spanish immersion school, our vision is set on providing the experience of a lifetime by providing the complementary elements toward achieving that goal. As a result, CPI is one of the most sought after programs in Costa Rica, attracting students from all over the world.
